Started training at the age of 7 in Fairbanks, Alaska under Master Larry Wick. Joined the Army in 2008, where I trained intermittently with Master “Y”, Master West, and Master Ute’s. Got out of Army in 2017 moved to Utah (Region 2) trained under Master Lindsay for 5 years. Moved to Columbia Missouri in 2022 (then Region 4).

Origin/history

Started Alpha Martial Arts opened in 2023, in Ashland, MO. Reason for starting Alpha is everything I learned about leadership I learned in Martial Arts, and I just want to pass on those lessons to those that are willing to learn.

Current # of active students

21 and counting

What is your specialty/favorite thing to teach?

I love teaching anything and everything, but my favorite is forms (Hyungs).

What do you love most about your school?

That through the vehicle of martial arts everyone learns a little more about themselves every class.

Are there any personal/martial arts goals you are working towards currently?

I’m working towards being the role model that I want my students to look up to, both in character and technique.

Who has been the biggest influence on your martial arts journey?

Master Larry Wick gave me my foundation and confidence in Tang Soo Do, Xena the Warrior Princess showed me how to be intense, and Michelle Yeoh made me believe I could do anything.

Notable achievement of a student or your school overall

Leadership is a big part of my teaching philosophy; every student must warm up at least one class prior to testing for their next rank. This means that every student must be brave as a white belt and stand in front of the class. This is a major achievement for everyone and the first step on their leadership journey.
